Remote Backup

TCI RED Vault Management is designed for high performance backup and recovery. TCI RED Vault Management protects your critical business data automatically and can save data locally or to hosted storage.

The initial backup for some clients can be quite extensive and take a long time: possibly so long that it will not be completed before the next scheduled backup is required. The software is intelligent enough to recognize this issue and automatically compensate for it. After the initial backup, incremental forever backup processing will begin and continue as scheduled for the backup set. Backups are typically scheduled for a specific frequency and time period, although they can be started manually.

TCI RED Vault Management protects your data on fully redundant storage for high availability. In addition to data mirroring, TCI RED Vault Management also employs snapshot functionality and full redundancy within the storage infrastructure.

Many providers restrict upload rates, slowing your backups to a crawl. TCI RED Vault Management never restricts uploads or downloads. The data centers utilize multiple tier one Internet providers with enough capacity to serve all requests at full capacity. Requests are processed via a load balanced server farm that is continuously monitored 24x7.

Local Backup

The Local Backup feature provides rapid, seamless business continuity by saving data to storage located on the same LAN. TCI RED Vault Management can use the Local Backup feature to restore data quickly and to retain additional copies of each file. The Local Backup feature is unique within the online backup industry since data saved locally does not have to be stored offsite.

The Local Backup solution can help address business disaster requirements by saving multiple copies of selected backup sets on a local disk. If you need to restore data, the file can be quickly restored from the local environment without using your Internet connection. Local Backup increases the speed of data restores at most locations and will not adversely affect your Internet connection.

Data Centers

All your data sent to the primary data center is immediately replicated to its mirror via a private, secure connection. In the event of an incident at the primary data center, the mirror site will be activated automatically.

Access to the solution is managed by a series of redundant front-end servers which all have access to the fully redundant storage system. The independent data centers are connected via private dark fiber connections and data is store in two data centers (at a minimum). All servers run licensed, fully supported operating systems and software. In addition to industry-standard security practices, The data centers deploy a gateway packet inspection service to verify the network is protected from viruses, spyware or malicious payload information that could potentially threaten the data centers.

Block-level Deduplication

Block-level deduplication minimizes the bandwidth required to backup multiple computers at a single site. Every file is analyzed and separated into individual blocks. The blocks are compared to the existing data and only a single copy of each block is transferred and stored at the remote storage facility. This increases efficiency by reducing the amount of time and bandwidth required to send data offsite.

Delta Block Technology

In addition to block-level deduplication, TCI RED Vault Management also compares the changes between file versions and only transfers the minimum amount of data to the remote storage facility. Delta Block Technology reduces the activity on the target machine by only transferring the individual blocks of data that represent changes from the previous backup.

Encryption

The software encrypts all data locally before transmitting the data across the network, Internet or the data center network. The software supports industry standard AES 256-bit and BlowFish 64-bit encryption. To maximize security, only the software can perform the encryption/decryption of files.

Data Transfer

The software transfers the data to the remote storage facility and each backup event is saved as a generation. The data is fully encrypted data during transfer and at rest, so there is little worry about anyone viewing the data.

Bandwidth Control

Managing bandwidth is a key component to a successful online backup. The software provides the ability to define the amount of bandwidth used at each site. TCI RED Vault Management can also leverage a minimal bandwidth setting during business hours and maximize the Internet connection after-hours.

Platform Support

The software provides an automated file backup of Microsoft® Windows® operating systems, Apple, Novell and all flavors of Linux and Unix. The software can be installed on a single machine to backup all servers, desktops and laptops using a centralized management console.
